Six updates from the Bài Học Kinh Doanh fanpage point to one trend: business is increasingly tied to compliance responsibilities, information accuracy and managing influence on digital platforms. Advertising-call rules and FPT Retail's penalty have official support; livestream gift proceeds remain unconfirmed by TikTok; and SME tax reductions are still under study.
Manage telesales as a compliance process
Decree 330/2026/NĐ-CP was issued and took effect on August 19, 2026. Under the checked provisions of Article 37, absent another agreement with users, advertising calls may take place only between 08:00 and 17:00, and advertising texts between 07:00 and 22:00. Frequency is also limited to at most one advertising call and three advertising texts to the same number in 24 hours.
Individual fines for certain advertising calls or messages outside permitted hours or exceeding frequency can range from VND 30 million to VND 50 million; corresponding organizational fines can be double. Businesses need more than calling-hour settings: retain consent evidence, control contact counts, exclude numbers on the Do Not Advertise List and manage outsourced telesales partners too.
FPT Retail fined VND 400 million: a transparency lesson
On August 28, the National Competition Commission announced Decision 235/QĐ-XPHC, issued July 31, 2026, imposing a total VND 400 million fine on FPT Digital Retail Joint Stock Company. Two violations were identified: failure to register or re-register standard-form contracts and general transaction conditions as required; and incomplete or inaccurate product, goods and service information misleading consumers.
The official notice also records the company's cooperation in supplying documents and proactive remedies, but does not identify specific products or retail chains. For retail and ecommerce businesses, the lesson is to check every touchpoint: advertising, descriptions, sales policies, contracts and transaction terms. Transparency is not solely legal teams' work but a standard for the entire sales system.
HUBA has a new chair—and new business-community expectations
On the afternoon of August 27, the delegate congress for the 2026–2031 term elected Mai Hữu Tín, Chair and CEO of U&I Investment Joint Stock Company, as Chair. The congress also agreed to rename the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association as the Ho Chi Minh City Business Federation, retaining the HUBA abbreviation.
More than a name change merits attention in the new term. Businesses expect HUBA to contribute more deeply to policymaking, connect businesses and industry associations, and turn digital and green transformation into competitive capabilities. For SMEs, a representative organization's value will be measured through recommendation quality and partnerships producing actual results.
Livestreaming shows the creator economy's power and limits
Nguyễn Phương Hằng's August 5 livestream attracted large audiences and virtual gifts, with social-media interface screenshots showing a high position in TikTok's gift rankings during the broadcast. However, no official TikTok figures confirm total gift value or the broadcaster's actual proceeds, so circulating billion-dong figures should not be treated as verified revenue.
The notable value lies in the model: an individual with a large community can turn attention into gifts, sales revenue or brand influence. Viewer-purchased gifts do not equal creators' received money because conversion mechanisms, reward conditions and platform policies apply. VietNamNet also reported that TikTok blocked the broadcast for violating community standards, showing engagement growth cannot be separated from content responsibility.
Three TikTokers face criminal proceedings: influence carries responsibility
Bắc Ninh Provincial Police, coordinating with Ministry of Public Security specialist units, initiated criminal proceedings against Nguyễn Văn Hợi, also known as Khánh Sky; Hồ Văn Khoa; and Trần Đình Tiệp, also known as Vua Quạt. According to information the Government Portal cited from the Ministry, the decisions concern disturbing public order and abusing democratic freedoms to infringe the interests of the State and the lawful rights and interests of organizations and individuals.
This directly reminds creators, KOLs and businesses partnering with influencers that livestreams can amplify conflicts and statements enormously within minutes. Content rules, crisis processes and speaking boundaries must be established before incidents. Initiating proceedings is a procedural stage, not a finding of guilt; final responsibility falls within the competent proceedings authorities' jurisdiction.
Small-business tax reductions remain a proposal for study
At the regular government meeting on August 3, Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng instructed the Ministry of Finance to study tax measures supporting production and business, focusing on SMEs, individuals and household businesses. The direction involved reporting to the National Assembly on amending the Corporate Income Tax Law to potentially reduce these groups' tax obligations in 2026.
Importantly, this is an instruction to study and develop options, not an enacted new tax rate. Businesses should not include hypothetical tax reductions in cash plans until official documents specify reductions, eligible groups, conditions and timing. Its immediate value is to help monitor policy and prepare clear accounting records for when new rules pass.
- Telesales must control consent, contact hours, frequency and the Do Not Advertise List
- Transparent product information and standard-form contracts are responsibilities throughout the customer journey
- Social influence can create economic value but does not remove legal responsibilities or platform standards
Social media spreads information and business opportunities quickly, but errors, uncontrolled conduct and legal risks spread just as fast. Businesses need to treat compliance, verification and content responsibility as part of operations, not something addressed only after an incident.
